CoreELEC 9.0.0 has finally arrived, after 10 months since the creation and first alpha release of CoreELEC with users testing Kodi v18 in various stages of it’s development cycle, our first stable release has finally landed. Based upon Kodi v18.0 final, this release contains our biggest change to date with support for both S905 and S912 devices now in a single unified install image.
Features:
After 2 years of being in development, Kodi v18.0 has finally been released and the final version has been included with this release, more information on this release can be found here.
3.14 LINUX KERNEL
Our releases include the 3.14 Amlogic vendor kernel, we believe this kernel offers the most compatibility to all Amlogic users at this time, whilst mainline development is progressing we will not abandon S912 or any other users and we will continue to use and develop this kernel until such time that we feel mainline is suitable for all of our users.
OPEN-SOURCE DVB DRIVER
Developed by one of our key developers, @afl1 has created an open-source DVB driver for CoreELEC for use by users with WeTek/MeCool/Khadas and Magicsee devices.
OPENVFD
OpenVFD by @TheCoolest (arthur-liberman) has created a kernel module and Kodi companion addon exclusively for CoreELEC to control most VFD’s on Amlogic devices.
ENTWARE PACKAGE MANAGER
Unlike other distributions we believe users should be able to install any application on their device of their choosing without having to resort to using out of date Kodi addons or complicated Docker packages. Entware has over 2000 linux packages that can be installed with a single command!
AMREMOTE AND MESON-IR REMOTE SUPPORT
CoreELEC can be configured to use either Amremote or with meson-ir to use almost any remote of your choosing to control your device, click here for more information on how to configure either of these.
HDR AUTO COLOUR SPACE/DEPTH SWITCHING
Amlogic devices are one of the few STB’s available on the market that support HDR and now thanks to @cdu13a and OSMC, automatic CS/CD switching is supported in CoreELEC.
UNIFIED INSTALL IMAGE
Gone are the days of having different install images, now thanks to @kszaq and @Raybuntu you can use the same file to update any of your devices that you have running CoreELEC.
